Practicality In A Ford

What do you look for when buying a car?

Speed, good aesthetics or lots of interior equipment?

Well for a lot of people practicality is certainly at the forefront of their minds. This is particularly the case for anyone looking for a family vehicle or someone who regularly has a car full of passengers. Fortunately, practicality has come on a long way since the days of the second hand Ford Cortina.

Over recent decades Ford has established itself as one of the most reliable and practical manufacturers in the world, with an excellent track record in terms of awards, accolades and critical acclaim. The Ford range is actually a lot broader than people realise – it isn’t all about the Fiesta, Mondeo and the Focus. Here are a few of Ford’s most practical models which you may not even be aware of.

B-Max – The B-Max is one of Ford’s newest additions to the range. It has only been on the market since 2012 and comes in the form of a 5-door hatchback. As a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) it boasts excellent accessibility and also comes with a great selection of equipment. Used Ford B-Max models usually cost around £10,000.

C-Max – Another very similar MPV which has been on the market since 2003 is the C-Max. The B-Max’s older and slightly larger brother performs superbly on the road and is one of the best handling vehicles in its class. Additionally, it offers a large amount of space in both the cabin and the boot while running costs are favourable. Because it has been around longer, used Ford C-Max cars are available for as little as £2,000.

Econoline – The Ford Econoline, sometimes referred to as the E-Series, is a full sized van. The model has been in production for over 50 years and when it comes to practicality they don’t come much more practical than this. You’ll have no problem transporting loads of stuff or taking many passengers, although it is quite pricey to run. Used Ford Econoline prices vary greatly, averaging at about £9,000.

F150 – One of Ford’s most popular vehicles in other countries, particularly the Americas, is the F150. It is a pickup truck and the most popular variant of the F-Series which has been on the market since 1948. Although it is an excellent car for transporting goods the F150 is a rare site on British roads, probably because of the weather! A used Ford F150 will usually cost in the region of £15,000.
